This historic old seaside hotel is found along the affluent Øresund coast north of Copenhagen and is especially popular during regatta season as well at other times with those who appreciate sea views and an elegant, old world charm. Skovshoved Hotel dates back to the 17th century and is an old-fashioned, white-painted building that despite its charming facade is about as far from Fawlty Towers as you can get. The 4-star hotel has just 22 rooms, all decorated in elegant Scandinavian style by the interior designer Michael Mammen, and has been listed among the best small hotels in the world by exclusive lifestyle magazine International Living. The hotel also houses an exclusive restaurant that is famous in its own right, having recently been awarded a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide, and is also open to non-hotel guests. Room prices start at DKK 1500 for a double.
