Amalienborg Palace,

Nyhavn, with surprisingly reasonable rates, particularly at weekends. If chintzy decor and a Royal location is your thing, this is the place: The 213 rooms and suites are all decorated in the style of Louis XVI, with blue and gold stripes and ornate white panelling in keeping with the hotel's 17th-century roots—if you ignore the ubiquitous wall-mounted flatscreen TV, of course. Some of the rooms are a little small, however—particularly the bathrooms—and compared to many of the city's other hotels it's a little old-fashioned. Phoenix Hotel has two restaurants, von Plessen and the more casual
Murdoch's Books & Ale, which has been done up in an English pub style.
