Description:
Situated on Vesterbrogade not far from the busy Vesterbro Torv, this small, friendly hotel-cum-hostel has a great location when it comes to bars, shops and cafes, all of which can be found right on the doorstep. Løven offers fairly basic, but clean and low-cost, lodgings for travelers on a budget, with single, double and family/group rooms sleeping up to five people available, with or without bath/toilet ensuite. While breakfast is not served at Løven there is a fully-equipped guest kitchen open to all, and the delicious organic pastries of Emmery's Bakery – also with indoor seating and fresh tea and coffee - is almost next door at no.30, as well as a local pub, Høllmers Bar at Stenosgade 1, for evening entertainment.
Dating from 1840, Løven has quite a history, being one of the many inns scattered along busy Vesterbrogade in the days when market traders would come with horse and cart to sell their wares in Copenhagen's markets. Many of them would find themselves stranded outside the city come night-time, as the city's gates – located at Vesterport – were locked at dusk.
