Christianshavn Restaurants in Copenhagen
The Christianshavn district of Copenhagen has some of the finest restaurants in the city, many of them in old listed buildings with spectacular views of the water. These include the San Pellegrino-awarded 'World's Best Restaurant' Noma, a converted warehouse on the harbor edge that serves stunningly imaginative seasonal dishes with local produce. Good luck getting a table, though; booking takes place here months in advance.
Not quite amongst the world's best but possibly Copenhagen's best Italian restaurant Era Ora comes with one Michelin star and can be found on Overgaden Neden Vandet in Christianshavn. If there are no tables available here you could try Era Ora's 'other' restaurant L'Altro, located around the corner on Torvegade, for a cheaper, but still delicious, alternative Italian.
Those looking to dine in historical surroundings are in the right neighborhood: Two of Christianhavn's best restaurants are located in what remains of the original fortifications. Brunch favorite Bastionen & Løven is housed in an old grain mill, while the original ammunitions depot Frederiks Bastion now houses a restaurant and gallery. Restaurant Kanalen is housed in a former Customs building and has been given a bib gourmand for is delicate menu of French/Scandinavian dishes.
Not every culinary experience here requires a meeting with the bank and a table reservation, however. For those out late in Christianshavn, Cafe Wilder is open until midnight and has an informal, local vibe along with some moderately-priced, traditional dishes. A good breakfast and brunch spot is Cafe Luna, a friendly, casual place for pancakes, smoothies and burgers.
Close to Christiania as well as Christianshavn Metro Station, Spicey Kitchen is the place to go for simple, cheap Pakistani food, while Christiania's two eateries, lunch cafe Morgenstedet and the evening restaurant Spiseloppen are both very reasonably-priced and ideal for vegetarians.
