If you're looking for fun on your vacation, Copenhagen doesn't disappoint, with leisure attractions for the grown-up kids as well as the little ones! The city offers a selection of recreational activities whatever time of year you visit, with beach parks for hot summer days and indoor attractions for cold and rainy occasions.
Top of the list has to be Denmark's fun central,
Tivoli Pleasure Gardens. The gardens were designed specifically for enjoyment more than 150 years ago, and have been serving that purpose ever since. Come in summer and enjoy the light evenings and late opening, the thousands of pumpkins during Halloween week or for the winter magic of the Christmas season.
Pre-dating Tivoli by over 250 years is
Bakken Funfair, an old-fashioned, out-of-town park set in the wonderful location of the royal forest Dyrehaven. The wooden roller coaster here was built in 1932, making it one of the oldest in the world. Admission is free, but don't forget money for the rides.
In inclement weather, leisure center
DGI-Byen has something for everyone, from water slides, bowling and climbing walls to spas and saunas. Found in Vesterbro close to the
Central Train Station, the center offers discounts to those staying at one of the complex's four hotels.
