Description:
Located on busy Route 4 in Northwood (less than a half hour north of Concord), Northwood Meadows State Park tends to be overlooked by regional outdoor enthusiasts. It's a shame because this state park is truly special in both its beauty and accessibility. Northwood features well designed and maintained trails that course over the park's rolling landscape. The dominant trail runs the perimeter of beautiful Northwood Meadows Lake with its stands of towering pine trees along the shoreline. This trail begins several yards from the park's entrance on Route 4. Veering to the right, the trail extends along a level path located on an upward slope. Along the shore, this trail affords exquisite views of the park's lake while winding its way gently along delicate dips and rises in topography. The lake trail makes for a delightfully scenic journey for cyclists (note: mountain or hybrid bikes are recommended) as well as a classic woodlands cross country ski experience. A visit to Northwood Meadows will surely satisfy any traveler or local seeking a satisfying journey into nature.
