No matter where you choose to stay while visiting Cleveland, there are plenty of options for every budget, taste, and tourist. In fact, probably the hardest decision you'll have to make while planning your trip is what area of the "Rock 'n' Roll Capital" you want to make your home base.
If you're in Cleveland for business or to visit famous attractions such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, downtown is the place for you. Fairly close to the airport, centrally located, and overlooking Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River, downtown Cleveland has a gritty industrial yet pleasantly historical feel to it. Downtown encompasses neighborhoods such as the Flats and the Warehouse District and, just across the river in Cleveland's West Side are the eclectic neighborhoods of Tremont and Ohio City.
For those who are willing to splurge, the Ritz Carlton and The Cleveland Renaissance Hotel are in the heart of downtown and have views of Lake Erie, the Cuyahoga River, and downtown Cleveland. Although not directly in downtown, The InterContinental Hotel is right next to the Cleveland Clinic. There are other more moderately-priced but worthy places to stay in the downtown area, including the Brownstone Inn. Built in 1874, and with rooms at affordable prices, the Brownstone Inn is downtown Cleveland's only bed and breakfast.
Should you decide to stay on the East Side of Cleveland, there are many places to choose from. The Glidden House in Cleveland's University Circle neighborhood is a beautiful mansion built in 1910 and features a first class restaurant in its carriage house.
