Chicago is certainly a hub for all kinds of performing acts from all over the world, so on any given night any of Chicago's best venues will be hosting something you will enjoy. However, these are the best of the best, the ones all the locals know they will get a unique experience, where the venue will add something more to the performance. On a large scale, the beautiful Riviera Nightclub features large rock acts in a gorgeous 1940's building, with plenty of plush seating. The Aragon Ballroom once hosted the largest rock groups in the country, but today has a rather limited performance roster. However, its' history and old-time glitz and glamor are worth a trip. The old Riviera Theater is also a beautiful historic Chicago venue that has become rough around the edges, but great rock bands still pass through and the acoustics are fantastic. For a straight-up rock band venue, the Vic is a great mid-sized venue that always boasts a lively, young crowd and a great line-up. On the other hand, the Logan Auditorium offers great seating in a chic environment. For smaller bands and venues, check out the Double Door for authentic rock music, the Subterranean for a three-stage, three-level experience, the Empty Bottle for a dive-bar night, Schubas for an eclectic line-up, and Lincoln Hall for all the current, modern hits.
