Day 1 - Philadelphia, Cherry Hill
Start your day by heading to the Museum area. The Please Touch Museum is great for young children, and kids (and adults) of all ages will love the Academy of Natural Sciences. Grab some lunch at the nearby Public House, then head over to the Franklin Institute for an IMAX movie (save the museum for another day; it's worth taking your time here!). Then make your way back to Rittenhouse Square to do some people- and animal- watching. Buca di Beppo is a great family restaurant, and you can entertain the whole family with a performance (perhaps a ballet) at the Academy of Music.

Day 2 - Philadelphia
Today's the day to learn everything you can about Philadelphia and the country's history. Start out at the Liberty Museum, where you can see the Liberty Bell and read about our nation's founding. If you're ready for lunch, try Buddakan; it's pricey, but the food and the decor make it well worth it (and the giant Buddha statue will entertain even younger children). After lunch, spend some time touring Independence National Historical Park, the First Bank of the United States, and the Betsy Ross House. Finally, head west a few blocks for some comfort food at Jones. The whole family will love this mid-century kitch restaurant.

Day 3 - Philadelphia
Start your day at Welcome Park, where you'll learn a bit more about Philadelphia's history and William Penn, who laid the plans for the city. Then take a Chef's Tour of the Italian Market, one of the most fascinating areas in Philadelphia. If you're not completely stuffed from the tastes of the Italian Market, make your way to another bustling marketplace, the Reading Terminal Market. With many Amish vendors and traditional Pennsylvanian food, the Market is an exciting place to eat, people-watch, or just observe. This is the place to get a soft pretzel or some Amish ice cream to give the kids fuel for the afternoon. Next, catch a ride to the Philadelphia Zoo, which kids are sure to love. After an afternoon of walking and watching animals, you'll be ready for a hearty dinner: an authentic Philly cheesesteak from Pat's Steaks. Finally, take the family on the Lights of Liberty tour, an educational and entertaining high-tech tour of Society Hill's important historic sites.

Day 4 - Philadelphia
It's time to learn about Ben Franklin. Start your day at the family-friendly Franklin Square, a play and educational park. Then make your way back to the Museum area to the Franklin Institute Science Museum. Be sure to devote several hours here, as there is plenty to see and do. Next, head over to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, maybe eating lunch first at the Museum Restaurant. After the Museum, drive or walk through parts of nearby Fairmount Park, perhaps strolling along Boathouse Row and the sculpture garden on Kelly Drive. Then it's time to take a trip across the river to the delicious White Dog Cafe. Finally, end your day on a chilly note with a Ghost Tour of Philadelphia.

Day 5 - Philadelphia
This day will involve some traveling, so start your day off with a hearty breakfast at the Famous 4th Street Delicatessen. Be sure to get some dessert on your way out; one or two giant servings will probably serve the whole family! Then make your way out of the city to Valley Forge National Historic Park, where one of the most important battles of the Revolutionary War was fought. You might want to bring a blanket along so you can sit in one of the beautiful fields and eat that dessert, while imagining rows of soldiers trekking through the grass. For a full lunch, head to Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant. After lunch, take the family horseback riding at Buckingham Valley Farm, and then return to the city for a fun and delicious dinner at Pod, another Stephen Starr creation (like Buddakan and Jones).
