Description:

Known as the "crown jewel of the state park system," Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is an ideal spot for sightseeing, hiking, SCUBA diving, picnicking, and a slew of other outdoor activities. Basically, you can experience all that Big Sur has to offer in one location (perfect if you only have a day in the area). One of the highlights of the reserve are the guided walks and presentations visitors can take with experienced guides. Themes include nature walks, tours of Whalers Cabin, and slide programs. Named "Point Lobos" after the sea lions that rest and recreate nearby, visitors can see these huge creatures sunbathing during certain times of the year. It is also home to an incredibly rich array of plant and animal life.

For the divers out there, half of the reserve is underwater. Point Lobos is one of the premier dive locations thanks to its commitment to protect the ocean life off shore.
