There's no better place to treat yourself to life's finer things that at a premier, five-star Carmel restaurant. Due to the fierce competition for culinary excellence here, every eatery strives to be the very best. Nearly each one on this list offers spectacular food, decadently good food, and stunning service. Each has a wine list that would rival any housed at the world's top restaurants. Researching the Pacific's Edge as a dining destination is one thing. Actually eating here is an entirely different experience. People will tell you the food is exquisite, the wine some of the best in all of California, and the view awe-inspiring, but you'll just have to experience it for yourself. This eatery, where every table has an ocean view, isn't setting out to impress; they aim to please the palate and let you savor the scenery along with your meal. Because of its commitment to excellence, Pacific's Edge takes the top spot on this list. No list of fine dining in Carmel would be complete without local favorite Anton and Michel. This romantic hot spot has been serving refined foods like filet mignon and abalone for what seems like forever. One of Anton and Michel's signature spectacles is a rack of lamb carved tableside. Don't be daunted by the 600 selections of wine at the Number 3 restaurant; they'll be around long enough for you to try them all. For old world charm that's second to none, Casanova can't be beat for ambiance and overall depth of the dining experience. The restaurant transports diners to a quaint French countryside with its authentic décor and simple yet deceptively complex dishes like moules frites and gnocchi. The housed cured Carmel Valley ham is divine. While not as upscale as some of the restaurants on the list, like Marinus at the Bernardus Lodge or French Cream, Casanova more than makes up for in a refined romanticism that you can't find anywhere else. That alone puts it at Number 6 on this list of the best fine dining in Carmel.
