Whether you are a hardcore party animal, or prefer a more sedate, relaxed, evening Cardiff has something for you.
The bay area is a popular destination for wine bars and pubs, and there is a large range of clubs to choose from.
Evolution is Cardiff bay’s first nightclub and is a hit with students. There are six bars here and dress code on the weekend is smart.
Fans of classical music and opera should check out
St. David’s Hall. The venue can fit 1,900 people and is home to the National Orchestra of Wales, the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, and the Welsh Proms.
New Theatre is another popular option for culture lovers. The Welsh National Opera is based here and they also put on drama productions, musicals and ballet. Their Christmas pantomime always goes down well. Gilbert and Sullivan fans might consider visiting the Sherman Theatre – the home of Cardiff’s Gilbert and Sullivan society.
If pop music is more your thing try
Cardiff International Area; acts that have performed here range from Shirley Bassey to the Tele-tubbies! Remember to book well in advance as the big pop concerts sell out quickly.
Live jazz can found at the
Jazz Café and the
Riverbank. The Riverbank overlooks the Millennium Stadium and has live jazz every Wednesday.
Cardiff has numerous theaters so you’re sure to find something you. From West End and Broadways shows to Shakespeare and experimental theatre there is something for everyone.
The New Theatre is the city’s largest, and more mainstream theatre.
The Sherman Theatre is more experimental and features a lot of youth theatre.
Chapter Arts Centre is another experimental venue.
Fancy a giggle? Check out
Cardiff Bay’s Glee Club – Cardiff’s first comedy venue. Each show comprises three stand-up acts and a disco follows the weekend shows. Check out their website for show details and prices and do note that there are some restrictions on large same sex groups.
