City Bowl
Nestled between
Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, the City Bowl is the urban center of Cape Town. Along with a few high rises and modern city fare, the City Bowl is home to museums, historical sights, great restaurants and the clubs of Long Street. In recent years there has been significant investment in the City Bowl and it's a good and vibey place to explore during the week. However, unlike many urban centres, the City Bowl becomes very quiet on weekends; both for safety and interests sake, stick to weekday ramblings.
During the day, explore the Company Gardens and the numerous museums along its route, wander up to the colourful
Bo Kaap neighborhood, or shop for souvenirs at
Greenmarket Square. For nighttime entertainment, head to Long Street and its venues including live jazz at The Dubliner Bar, a number of clubs, and restaurants with lounges like
Royale.
