People often think that Cancun is a place filled with non-stop parties and drunken college students year-round. This is not the case, however. Cancun is, in fact, a great destination for a family vacation and there are many kid-friendly activities to keep your little ones entertained, if they happen to tire of playing in the sand and surf.
Some of the most popular kid-friendly things to do in Cancun include the Captain Hook Pirate Ship dinner cruise, swimming with dolphins, and visiting the Interactive Aquarium, or the Crococun Zoo. A trip to the Turtle Farm, on the island of Isla Mujeres, is a great option, as well, and most kids will find the boat ride over to the island to be quite a treat in itself.
Xcaret and Xel-Ha are eco-parks, where you can learn about Mayan culture & Mexican history, as well as see plants and animals from the region, and swim with dolphins. There are also shows. Children will have fun learning about plants, animals, and even history, while having the times of their lives.
If your family likes to get off-the-beaten path when you travel, be sure to check out Isla Contoy, and the ruins of El Meco or El Rey.
