While Calgary has nothing on par with, say, the British Museum, there are a number of very interesting museums here. A few of them are unlike anything you could find anywhere else in the world. Our museums cover the history of dinosaurs, cowboys, WW1, and the national parks.
The Royal Tyrrell Museum is one of Alberta's finest attractions. Located in the "Bad Lands" near Drumheller, this paleontology museum is a world-class research and education center. With many full-sized dinosaur displays, this is an unforgettable experience, and one that will leave you enthusiastic about telling your friends about everything you learned.
Heritage Park is not only a great way to learn about "How the West was Once", it's a real fun experience for the whole family. Come enjoy the bakery and take a stroll back to the way Calgary was in the 1800's. There are displays from all different times in Calgary's history. There's also farm animals, a real steam-engine train, and many rides to enjoy.
The Glenbow Museum brings in a lot of exhibits from around the world, as well as complementing several significant, permanent displays. This downtown museum is considered Calgary's premier museum.
The Military Museum is a testament to the heroes of the World Wars and Canada's continued role in Peace Keeping around the globe. Learn about life in the trenches and the reason why Canadians in WW1 earned the name "Stormtroopers."
