Cabo San Lucas was put on the map forty years ago due to the outstanding big game fishing off the capes, and this tournament is a bellwether event that emphasizes the continued growth of the area. The tournament is held every October, and with over 100,000 in prize money available, draws some of the world's best angling talent to Los Cabos. The entry fee is 5,000 USD per team, with up to six team members eligible, with teams fighting to land the largest catches of three billfish species. Tuna, dorado, and wahoo prizes are also awarded for those specific categories, with catch and release prizes also available. Entry fees also cover entrance to all events and social activities, of which there are many since this event basically kicks off the tourist season in Los Cabos. The tournament this year will be held from October 11 - 15, with the event calendar yet to be determined.
