NileGuide Expert tip:
The best entree I ever had here was a filet mignon with gorgonzola and basil sauce. It wasn't on the menu. Just ask Enrique to make you something special, and he most assuredly will.
Description:
Chef Enrique Gerrard began this Italian restaurant three years ago in a parking lot under a tent. The food was so good and the setting so incongruous that it became an immediate hit. Backed by local support he quickly built a small gem of a restaurant on the corner of that parking lot. Enrique spent four years schooling himself in France and Italy, and the menu is Meditteranean influenced, with many great Italian dishes. As you pass through the privacy wall of vines and flowers that form the open front of the restaurant, you will be welcomed to your table by Enrique's professional staff, who provide service in the European style while Edith Piaf plays in the background. Salad, pasta (there are twelve options, with the carbonara of thick-cut Canadian bacon and fresh parmigiano-reggiano meriting special note), and garlic bread are included in the price of all entrees. Entree favorites include the veal scallopini, which is two filets of veal with mozzarella and mushrooms in a mushroom red wine marsala sauce, and the chicken fiorentina with spinach and basil over a rich alfredo pasta. The wine list leans toward Italian and Mexican producers, with some California and Argentina options available.
