Breakfast in Cabo San Lucas is often the most important meal of the day, particularly if you're still suffering the after-effects of the previous evening. And whether you like to begin your day with huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, chilaquiles, a traditional omelet, strong coffee, or a few Bloody Marys, there are a host of options available within easy walking distance of the downtown area.
Mama's Royal Cafe is by general acclimation the best breakfast place in town. They have a wide variety of menu options, all accompanied by their terrific homemade salsas, but they are most famous for the Pan Francaise (French toast) topped with fresh fruits and stuffed with cream cheese. Enjoyed with a mimosa and some live guitar music, you will quickly feel human again, and ready for another day of adventure.
Lolita's has the best huevos rancheros and chilaquiles (tortilla strips, beans, cheese, sauce piquante, and eggs over easy) in town, as well as delicious pineapple and orange juices and strong coffee. Baja Peppers is the home to the three dollar bacon and eggs breakfast, but their true specialties are Italian sausage omelets and their signature eggs benedict.
If you would like to begin your breakfast on the beach watching the waves roll in, there are a number of great breakfast options on Playa El Medano, including Baja Cantina, Mango Deck, and The Office. All offer an array of omelets and eye opening beverages. However, if you are truly fighting a beast of a tequila hangover, the best place to go is well off the beaten track. Pozole is a traditional Mexican hangover cure, and the best pozole verde in San Lucas can be found in Chabelita.
For those who find brunch a much more civilized option than breakfast, Crazy Lobster and El Pollo de Oro are excellent choices. Both offers rich comfort foods at affordable prices. Crazy Lobster features steak and seafood, and El Pollo de Oro does chicken and pork ribs. The lobster tacos at the former, or the fried chicken tacos at the latter, are great ways to start the day, particularly if accompanied by a large michelada.
