The Vörösmarthy Square and Váci Street ensemble located in the heart of the city (V. District) is considered one of the most beautiful parts of Budapest. Architecturally, the area is amazing, with original and recently reconstructed facades alike. Not surprisingly it has become a tourist hotspot, and today it's shops, cafes and restaurants as far as the eye can see. It is however one of the pricier districts, but you definitely get your money's worth. Saw a postcard of Budapest that made you book that flight? That picture was most probably taken here.
Hotels in the area range from expensive five star to cheap hostels and everything in-between. Starting with the pricey category, we have the Kempinsky Hotel Corvinus and Le Meridien Budapest on the neighbouring Elizabeth Square, and the Budapest Marriott Hotel, InterContinental Budapest, Sofitel Atrium and Four Seasons Hotel (in no specific order) along the Danube near Roosevelt Square.
Our seventh pick is a larger hostel, the brand name Mellow Mood Central Hostel located parallel to Váci Street.
Our last three picks are Taverna Hotel located on Váci Street; a delightful hotel with a fitness club and good business facilities, the Ibis Centrum Hotel along Ráday Street with basic rooms that are impeccably clean and comfy, and the K&K Hotel Opera; a popular and classy choice behind the Opera House just a few minuet's walk from the Vörösmarthy Square.
