Romantic Boulder
Description:
What better place for romance than within the Boulder Bubble: 25 square miles surrounded by reality. Day 1 - Boulder
While Boulder has several lovely hotels—most notably, the Hotel Boulderado—if you’re searching for romance, the Briar Rose Bed & Breakfast is the way to go. With its antique furniture, fresh flowers, and courtyard gardens, the Briar Rose is a beautiful respite located right in Central Boulder.
Start off your romantic visit in Boulder with a Saturday morning trip to the Boulder Farmer’s Market. (Local tip: The public garage across the street at the bus station offers free weekend parking.) The Farmer’s Market is a lovely place to stroll hand-in-hand with your loved one, sampling artisanal cheeses and smelling bouquets of flowers. Pick up some ingredients for a lunch and take a slow drive up Flagstaff Mountain for a romantic picnic. If you turn right towards the amphitheater, there are many picnic tables just off the road where you can park and walk a few minutes to find a quiet, secluded spot. The east side affords a spectacular view of Boulder County, and the west side provides a serene view of the Continental Divide. After lunch, take a wander around in the woods, or head back down to Chautauqua Park at the base of the foothills and take a short hike up the Mesa Trail.
For dinner, head back to where the Farmer’s Market was for a romantic meal at the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. Inside, its beautiful hand-carved and hand-painted ceilings, columns, and ceramic panels make for a unique and romantic atmosphere. Outside, chose a table under the trellis and enjoy a romantic dinner with the sounds of the Boulder Creek trickling by. Take your dessert to go, and after dinner, step out back of the Teahouse and settle in for an evening at the Boulder Outdoor Cinema. Bring your blankets and pillows and anything else you need to get comfy with your loved one in this parking lot turned outdoor theater. Enjoy your dessert together as the sun goes down, snuggle up for the movie, and enjoy the chilly summer nights in Boulder.
If you’re in the mood for a fancier albeit pricier romantic evening, head back up Flagstaff Mountain to the famous Flagstaff House, which offers a romantic atmosphere and a unique aerial view of Boulder.

Day 2 - Boulder
Start off your lazy Sunday with the Greenbriar Inn’s delicious “champagne brunch”. Then head to Pearl Street for a stroll down the walking mall. Stop to see the street performers and musicians, and maybe grab some ice cream as you walk.
Be sure to leave some time (and some money) to spend at the Belvedere Belgian Chocolate Shop at the eastern end of the walking mall. If you’d like to follow your chocolate with some wine, head out to the Boulder Creek Winery for some samples.
For dinner, head back to Pearl Street to Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant, a small, lovely spot just off the walking mall that serves up delicious healthy meals and exquisite infused cocktails. Its quiet, serene atmosphere is perfect for any couple, and its desserts are just the right size to share. For a pricier dinner option, go to Frasca’s for some award-winning Italian cuisine.
If you’re lucky enough to be in Boulder during the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, pick a show that’s being performed in the outdoor Mary Rippon Theater where you can cuddle with your loved one on the stone benches (bring a blanket!) and watch the sun go down and the theater lights come up. If a blanket in the grass sounds more romantic to you than a fancy restaurant, you can opt to buy a picnic dinner with your Shakespeare Festival tickets and eat it while lying in the grass on the lovely CU campus. And if Broadway is more your scene than Shakespeare, check out what’s on at the Boulder Dinner Theater.
