Whilst by day Bordeaux feigns a serene and at times provincial scene, as night falls the city really comes to life. It is at this time that the maze of hidden squares and secret alleyways become imbued with vibrancy, chatting and music. Bordeaux certainly knows how to do cafe culture in style, and streets are lined with bustling bars and cafe, in which a young trendy crowd can be found united over a bottle of red, or swigging aperitifs, until the early hours of the morning. Look out for Place Camille Julian, a charming open square in the heart of the old city, which is home to the fantastic Utopia Cinema.
