Since 1972, Ballet Idaho has been the premier ballet company in Idaho. Although it has gone through many transitions over the years, it is a strong and competent company. Led by Artistic Director Peter Anastos, the company performs old favorites as well as works not so familiar to audiences. The Nutcracker is performed every year at Christmastime, and features hundreds of local children.
Still left in the 2010-11 season are performances of :
The Piano, in February. The piano is a standard instrument for all ballet dancers. They dance to it day in and day out. But rarely are performances danced only to piano; it's usually a full orchestra. For this performance, it will be piano only, played by Felix Eisenhauer and Juli Draney.
Sleeping Beauty is one of the world's great ballets. Tchaikovsky's music will set the stage for this fairy tale story of love and redemption.
