Known for its fresh food and charming ambiance, Tabio is located only one hour from Bogota, a mere 45km, and makes for a pleasant day trip out from the capital. You can stroll the streets, eat traditional fritanga, hike up the Pena de la Juaica - famed for sightings of UFOs - and enjoy the same view that on a clear day allows for unimpeded views over the Sabana de Bogota of up to 380km in distance. The hike is perhaps Tabio's most important attraction, but, there as to be expected the ubiquitous hot springs as well. Tabio is also famous for the Torbellino dance that is wildly popular here and when the town has its fiesta, it's wildly recognized as a copiously beer soaked occasion.
