NileGuide Expert tip:
If you are planning on coming to a bullfight which take place in January and February, book early.
Description:
Beautifully constructed in a Moorish fashion this brick structure that is found beside the Parque Nacional, above the Septima and below the Macarena is a sight to behold during bullfighting season in Bogota. Representing a folly for the man who constructed it, he was almost bankrupted several times, the bullring is now a national monument and whatever your take on the bloody sport, should not be missed. There is a museum within and you can combine a visit here with lunch in one of the oh so painfully hip restaurants in the nearby Macarena or a breather in the Park. If you choose not to rub shoulders with the Bogota elite so fond of the bullfights, then keep an eye out for announcements about potential concerts here as on a few occasions Mexican ranchera singers have chosen this location to serenade the masses.
