Located on Calle 10, a street in the Candelaria known for its museums and ornate buildings, the Army Museum is a good place to start if you are interested in knowing about Bolivar's tactical plays in outwitting the Spanish at the Battle of Boyacá or at the Battle of Vargas's Swamp – two key events that secured independence for Gran Colombia. The more contemporary exhibits are rather humdrum affairs, but certainly the children enjoy clambering over various items of warfare in the courtyard alongside the museum.
