El Retiro's fanfare smacks of pretension, but, this is what they are looking for. This shopping center is meant to be Bogota's answer to the Trump Tower in New York or the Galeria in Houston. It's not, and the layout is somewhat misleading, but, that said, there are some fantastic upscale stores just in case you needed to fix your Swarovski kick, or another Ralph Lauren polo shirt and some lacy lingerie. Sometimes it feels as if no one is shopping here but it appears that the cosmetics fly off the shelves in the Riviera store and on most nights the restaurants found here, such as the Mexican, El Techo and the new Andres DC are continually full and popular.
