Description:
Named after a former President, designed by one of Bogota's most noted architects, Rogelio Salmona in 2001, located on the edges of the Parque Simon Bolivar, the Virgilio Barco Library is an academic attraction par excellence. The setting is everything here, with beautiful views, an elegant restaurant and more than 150,000 volumes to browse over, literary folk will be more than appreciative of the efforts made by the government in Bogota to increase academic options for their citizens. Given that the library was designed by Salmona, responsible for the Eje Ambiental, the Torres del Parque and the Gabriel Garcia Marquez cultural center, it goes without saying that water features and smooth, curved designs abound.
