Description:
Getting here by foot, strolling up the steep incline of the pedestrianized Calle 10 will most certainly knowck the air from your lungs. But, believe me, this hike up one of the Candelaria's most beautiful and restored streets is well worth the effort once you have reached Enchiladas. Of a weekday at lunchtime you will be in competition with patrons from the Mexican Embassy in Bogota who make a substantial trek south in order to dine on fine offerings of chilaquiles, frijoles, enchiladas, sopas and so on which are prepared as if in the motherland. Prices are around the 15,000 pesos mark for a main dish but for the quality and quantity this is a real bargain. The Virgin of Guadalupe presides over all proceedings here in Enchiladas as if placing a stamp of quality from a higher authority on the food that exits the kitchen. So, if you are hankering for a Mexican fix while in Bogota, do not miss this establishment.
