Gene Porter, an outgoing mechanic from Louisiana, along with his wife, Dixie are the proprietors of this Eastside BBQ shack. At lunch, some of the young crowd from Microsoft fill this hole-in-the-wall. Service is cranky but some feel this adds to the ambiance. Dixie's is somewhat controversial among some local hardcore BBQ enthusiasts as there is some dislike of the boiled-meat style of the fare. Rather than for the quality of the food or service, the restaurant is known for an extremely hot sauce known as "The Man". Be careful when applying this liquid fire; many a meal has been ruined by its application. On the south end, Porter's BBQ of Tacoma, is run by Gene and Dixie's son, Alton.
