A very good way to get the lay out of the city of and to visit all important sites of Beirut's history, ancient and recent, is to take part in a walking tour. Walk Beirut organises walking tours which start at 2.30pm and last until 7.00pm. The tours are conducted in English by recent university graduates who know every nook and cranny of Beirut. Meeting point for the Saturday tours is the big tree at the entrance to the American University campus on Bliss Street with the junction to Kennedy Street. Costs per person: $20. Reservatioons are a must. Contact by email: walk@bebeirut.org or telephone: 961 70 15 66 73. Ask about dates. Private tours are also available, provided 10 people come together to form a group.
