The downtown core in Barcelona is full of unique, off the beaten path, nooks and crannies which are so easy to lose yourself in. Barcelona's Gothic Quarter is at the heart of the Old City and there's plenty to do in and around the area to keep you entertained for hours.
Our number two pick is in the Born, but only a stone's throw from the Gotico and is an excellent way to occupy your time, especially if you're into art and Picasso. Museu Picasso is definitely worth a visit, if only to see the incredible evolution of his work throughout his career.
If you're in the mood for a wine tasting, any time of the day, our number four pick is ideal. Paladar Vinoteca is a small, cozy wine shop right near plaza Catalunya. They have high quality Spanish as well as international wines and they'll even let you buy a bottle and open it in the shop, if you feel like hanging out for a while. Every Friday they have 5 euro wine tastings, so it's a great way to kick off the weekend.
