Rated one of Barcelona's fastest up and coming neighborhoods, Poble Sec is quickly becoming the neighborhood to be in. Ideally situated near the water and the mountains, this small, rustic Barcelona barrio has excellent restaurants, bars and clubs as well as a diverse cultural section. Slightly off of the tourist path, it's a great area to explore, if you're looking for something a little different and not so mainstream.
Our number one pick is perfect if you have children and even if you don't, it's definitely worth checking out before dinner one evening. The Magic Fountain Show, in Plaza Espanya about a 5 minute walk from Poble Sec and it makes dancing water, look cool. Perfectly choreographed to upbeat music, the Magic Fountain Show airs most nights during the summer with shows about every 15-20 minutes.
Head into the neighborhood directly beside Poble Sec and Sant Antoni is another hidden Barcelona gem. Our number six pick is perfect for market lovers and for those who want to avoid the hustle of the Boqueria on La Rambla. Mercat de Sant Antoni is a nice way to spend an afternoon on the weekend.
Whether you're into theater or not, our number nine pick is worth checking out. Inaugurated in 1905 the theater has been completely remodeled and today features plenty of theatrical shows as well as flamenco performances.
