Wendell Gilley Museum prides itself on connecting people with nature through art. The museum encompasses the works of Wendell Gilley, a local Bar Harbor-area plumber who gained a well-deserved, world renown reputation as a master bird carver. In addition to Gilley's vast collection, the museum also exhibits bird carvings by members and other celebrated artists. The museum also does an admirable job of offering workshops and lectures on the art of bird carving. It makes for a very interesting destination for those curious about this very distinctive art form.
