The Collins Center for the Arts, also known as the Maine Center for the Arts, is the University of Maine's premier performing arts center. Located in nearby Orono (about 20 minutes north of Bangor), the Collins Center brings an extensive offering of top name, national talent to the Bangor/Orono area. Audiences can enjoy such diverse performances as a touring troupe of Irish singers and dancers, national humorist David Sedaris, South Africa's Ladysmith Mambazo, and even a presentation by New York's Metropolitan Opera. For those visiting the Bangor region, the Collins Center should be high on their list of entertainment venues to visit.
