Bang Pu Seaside Resort
Address:
Sukhumvit Road, Samut Prakan
Bangkok, Thailand
Description:
Just about a 30-minute drive out of Bangkok heading east and along the seashore is Bang Pu. It is a popular escape from the city and you will find Thais lining the long concrete pier, watching and feeding an enormous number of seagulls. At the end of the pier is a large seafood hall with sections that are either air-conditioned or open air with views of the surrounding sea. All seafood is fresh of course, and the place can be quite busy, especially on weekends. Prices are moderate and some will find the quality is just average, but you are paying for the location. Parking is on the pier or in a lot just outside. Right next door is the lovely
Bang Pu Nature Park, a definite place to check out and a second reason to visit.
From
Central World in downtown Bangkok straight out on Sukhumvit Road into Samut Prakan, this is just about 35 km. Bang Pu is on the right side of the road and you will pass the entrance on the divided road just after kilometer marker 37 and have to make a u-turn to get back to it. There is ample parking in a lot and even out on the pier itself.
Want to make a day of it? Stop at
Ancient City and/or Erawan Museum on your way here.
