The Chinese made a big impact on Thai culture and Bangkok society. Chinatown, also known as Yaowarat, is rich display of the Chinese culture and a must-visit section of Bangkok if only for the food. NileGuide offers here the Top Ten Things to Do or See in Bangkok's Chinatown. There's a lot and some of it is difficult to find in the network of roads, backstreets and walking lanes. But if you really want to experience Bangkok, this is going to be part of it.
Though this is our list of the most important attractions in Chinatown, we also include Chinatown itself as a whole. Why? Because much of what you will do here is eat and food is everywhere and aplenty. Restaurants and food carts line the lanes. Getting down to more specific sites, you will also find an abundance of shrines. The most important Chinese shrines are Leng Nei Yee and Leng Buai Ia, but don't miss the Kuan Yim shrine at the Thian Fah Foundation. All of this is walkable, of course, but consider seeing Chinatown on two wheels. Bike tours are a great way to cover a lot of ground quickly and in a way most travelers miss out on. Plus you can still take the bike to these most important tourist sites in Chinatown.
