Not enough is said about Bangkok's cinema scene. Movies are shown in state-of-the-art cineplexes scattered throughout the city and VIP seating with comfy armchairs is offered in many of them. The latest big releases often debut in Thailand right about when they hit the screens abroad. Film fests are common and English soundtracks are left intact. Get yourself some popcorn (sweet, cheese or salty?) and take a date to the movies. Watch for discounts at some franchises on Wednesdays.
Here is a list of the best places to see a movie in Bangkok. These top cinemas are not only current with the new releases, but also easily accessible by Skytrain. Paragon Cineplex at Siam Paragon and SF World at Central World are the two top cinemas, offering the largest number of screens and the nicest design. Paragon has the only IMAX in Bangkok. When it comes to more artsy films, however, your better bet is the old tried and true Apex Lido or Scala, or even better yet, the little House Rama RCA. Keep an eye on the new releases every Thursday.
