Goat Creek
Address:
Spray Lakes Road
T0L Canmore, Canada
Description:
Goat Creek is a 18km trail connecting Banff and Canmore. Most bikers take the trail from Spray Train (near Canmore) toward Banff, as there is about 1000 foot elevation drop between the two points, but hard-core bikers can go uphill, if they want. The trail ends near the Banff Springs Hotel and Bow Falls. For the most part, it is an easy trail that even children can handle. Near Spray Trail, the path starts out as dirt, but by the end of the journey, it is a road. There are a lot of bridges to cross along the way. As far as scenery goes, Goat Creek is pretty forested. You spend a lot of the time deep in the woods, and there's not a ton of grand vistas. But, there are mountains all around. And, the view of Canmore from up on Spray Trail is quite impressive. There's a lot of tourist traffic by the time you get to Banff, as the trail enters Banff at its most touristy area.
