Banff Avenue Restaurants in Banff
Banff Avenue is the busiest street in the entire park. Many tourists seem to spend their whole holiday just wandering up and down the street. There's a host of shops, restaurants, hotels, and points of interest to keep people's attention. The restaurants vary from fast food to five star. There's really something for everybody on Banff Avenue, which is impressive considering how varied the crowd of tourists in Banff can be. Although Banff Ave is a long street (it can take you all the way to the Trans-Canada Highway), most of the action is located within about 4 blocks of the river.
Nourish Vegetarian Bistro is considered by many to be the best restaurant in Banff. It is known for its organic, earth-friendly style of food. They serve a huge variety of food, and it's all top quality.
There are several pubs along Banff Avenue. The Elk and Oarsman is a relatively new pub, but it is touted as Banff's top sports bar. It's a nice atmosphere with quality pub fare. The Banff Ave Brewing Co. is unique in that it's Banff's only micro-brewery. Other pubs along the way include the Rose and Crown, Paddocks, and just off Banff Ave is St. James Gate.
The Grizzly House is a cool little A-frame building along Banff Ave. They're famous for a wildly overpriced dish that has an exotic selection of meats, including snake, frog, alligator, etc. But, it costs over $70. Other dishes are available at the Grizzly House for a more reasonable price.
The Fudgery is one of Banff's most popular shops. All they serve is hand-made fudge. The Welch's Chocolate Shop is another place to check out for the sweet tooth.
