Downtown Hotels in Banff
Few places in Canada get the tourist traffic that downtown Banff gets, and as a result of this tourist traffic, downtown Banff is full of hotels, hostels, and B&Bs. These lodgings vary in price from extremely affordable to very expensive. But, it can be rewarding to stay downtown, instead of at venues such as the Banff Springs Hotel and the Rimrock Hotel, because the town is very lively at night and shuttles to various ski hills tend to pick up skiers right downtown.
On the upper end of the price range is the Buffaloberry B&B. This spot is not right on Banff Ave., but it is only a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle. That's a good thing, especially on long weekends, as Banff Ave. can be packed with tourists. Marten Street is not a far walk from the river, either, and the Bow River is really what makes Banff townsite special. A trip to Bow Falls is a must.
The Inns of Banff own a number of properties around Banff. In downtown, the Fox is in a great location for walking the main strip. And, the Caribou is a nice property with a Keg restaurant attached. The Caribou is approximately 10 minutes walking from downtown. The interior is cozy, and the pool is quite small. But, it's a nice spot.
The Banff Boutique Inn has a back yard that attaches to a large wild-space. This is a great place to watch for animals and get away from the busy crowds. You can also escape into the Cave and Basin Historic site.
