Banff Avenue Hotels in Banff
Banff Ave., one of Alberta's busiest pedestrian streets, is a bustling tourist trap. On both sides of the strip you can find all sorts of touristy shops, candy stores, restaurants, and even a Christmas store. The street takes you from the highway to Canada Place, the administrative center for the park and one of Alberta's most well maintained gardens. Close to Banff Ave. you can find museums, theaters, shops, restaurants, pubs, and lots of accommodation.
The Banff Springs Hotel, Rimrock Hotel, and Hidden Ridge Resort are all major names in Banff lodging, but none of the three is close to Banff Ave. In fact, it takes about an hour to walk from the Rimrock to Banff Ave. But, the Banff Lodging Company has many properties in downtown Banff, including the Fox, which is one of the town's best. This hotel is at the south end of the strip, and a short walk will take you to any part of the strip.
The Delta is a brand-name establishment with a 4 star rating. It doesn't get the attention that the Banff Springs and the Rimrock get because of its location. But, if being closer to the action is more important to you then great views, the Delta is worth checking out.
There are lots of B&Bs in Banff, but the Buffaloberry, Thea's House, and Banff Boutique Inn are the top of the line. Others can be easily found for a lower price point. A B&B is the most intimate way to see Banff, as many tourists never even leave downtown to see the townsite.
