Auckland may seem compact but its boundaries go far beyond. The beauty in this is that it is easy to get off the beaten track and experience New Zealand at its finest. We're talking about getting away from the tourist trail and hanging out with Kiwis or discovering the unique landscape. For wildlife you can head to Muriwai to see the gannets for simply depart from the CBD on a whale and dolphin cruise. Special views not everyone is seeing? Try rugged Bethell's Beach, North Head for the cityscape, or set off on the Coast to Coast Walkway and take in the beauty of Auckland. For the adventurous, there is bungy jumping off the Harbour Bridge. When all your mates paid out to go where everyone else goes, you can jump right here from our beloved bridge. You can also kayak all the way out to Rangitoto if you have some serious muscles in those arms and aren't afraid to use them. Or what about some alternative transport? You can drive a Harley Davidson down to see the glow worms in Waitomo's caves or ride a horse along the beach to a pub or two. Lastly, let's not forget the kids who've been losing patience with so much souvenir shopping by Mum and Dad. If they are driving you insane, take them out to Rainbow's End theme park for the day. That'll wear them out!
