With New Zealand being a fairly young nation, the landmarks in Auckland are often of the modern variety. Yes, there are some old buildings, but the landscape is marked by modern structures and, that other uniquely New Zealand thing, volcanoes. The landmarks that are most prominent on the landscape are the Sky Tower, Mt. Eden, and One Tree Hill. Take a hint from the fact that these are all high places and get up there to have a look. You'll be able to spot some of the other important sights such as the Harbour bridge, Auckland's War Memorial Museum, and yet more volcanic cones. Still wanting more? Get down and walk around in the city where you can find the beautiful Ferry Building from which to sit alongside and watch the boats, and Customs House, now the DFS Galleria Duty Free shop. Crossing over an historical graveyard is also the Grafton Bridge, normally busy with joggers.
