The Auckland Botanic Gardens are a beautiful place to spend and day out although it is not necessary to actually stay nearby. You can easily take a Manurewa bound bus from the Britomart Transport Centre in the CBD (Central Business District). Having said that, there is a case for staying in the area if you are planning to fly out the next day and just want one last low-key day in Auckland. You can stay right in Manukau City, where there are many restaurants and a few other attractions such as Rainbow's End amusement park, Spookers (a haunted house) and a cinema, or you can stay closer to the airport where there are also eateries, a mini-golf and Butterfly Creek, a butterfly park. Whichever you choose, you will nto be very far away from any of these attractions. Accommodation choices range from low to mid cost and there are also a few serviced apartment-type hotels which give you the choice of a little extra room if you are travelling with family or just want to stay a bit longer in the area. Most are modern, well kept and give you the option of serviced or not. They also provide parking and airport transfers. With the variety available, you can choose based on the attractions you want to visit rather than the type of accommodation that suits your needs.
