Although it is easy to get the personal touch here in Auckland by heading to a little Kiwi B & B, sometimes you just want to book a place that you know. Auckland gets that. And, as such, we've managed to attract most of the large brand name hotels to this city to take the guesswork out for you. While the bigger budget places like Hilton and Hyatt roll off the tongue, don't forget that there is such a thing as a brand name backpackers (hostel). We've got a couple of nice YHAs as well as the Base chain and also Nomads (originally the Fat Camel). So, whether you are looking for 5 stars or simply a bed in a dorm, we've got it covered. Generally the closer you get to the water, the higher the price tag so go down the hill for the more expensive places and up the hill if you are on a budget. Following on from that comment, it also stands to reason that there are mid-range hotels chains located, you've guessed it, in the middle of the city. Whatever you choose, don't worry, you can pretty much walk to anywhere in the CBD (Central Business District) as Auckland has a compact centre. Just choose based on what you are looking for.
