Whether you are staying long-term on business, visiting on a working holiday visa, or just wanting to go self-catering,Auckland's aparthotels (more often referred to as serviced apartments here)can provide what you are looking for. They are located in every corner of the city so you needn't worry about being very far from where you want to be. Most are in the CBD, but there are even some out in the suburbs and many are chains with various locations. Ask upon booking and they can direct you to the correct branch for your needs. Another thing to consider is parking. Car parks in the city centre are very expensive and some aparthotels offer a space in their own building. However, many charge by the day for the priviledge of using they car parks so be sure and inquire if you will be renting a car and plan accordingly. Some come with washing machines or give access to a communal launderette, and some come with free breakfast, so ask at the outset before buying in a bunch of cereal or eggs. One other thing to look out for is students. Especially for those aparthotels located near the university campuses, there is a possibility that students are housed in the same building. Normally this is not a problem as they will be on separate floors, but it is worth asking how close you are to any universities as this can tip you off if you are concerned.
