Hello little island nation in the Pacific. Hello seafood! Yes, this is where we shine. Well, OK, this and free range, grass fed lamb. Kiwis are a little bit smug about believe that our fish and chips are better than those in England. Being so far away from anywhere else and, as a result, having such pristine waters to fish from means that we have access to some amazing kai moana, or seafood. You will find some form of seafood, be it fresh fish or our famous green-lipped mussels on most menus, but there are a few places which excel at preparing New Zealand in a way that brings out it's natural tastiness. Think 'Waterfront' and you'll be thinking of the right area to begin your search. Some restaurants will be located in the marinas, some along Tamaki Drive which skirts the Harbour and some are in the Viaduct basin. For the best views of the Harbour, try Sails, Swashbucklers and Hammerheads. For a bit more of a lively atmosphere, take a stroll around the Viaduct Basin and pop into just about anywhere to sample the seafood offerings. A few that are recommended would be Kermadec, which is very well-known for its seafood and Pacific Rim dining, The Foodstore, all local and much of it organic, Snapdragon, and Soul Bar.
