Quiet, well-preserved, and one of the city's only pedestrian-safe zones, the neighborhood immediately surrounding the Acropolis is as treasured as the sacred rock herself. Enjoy it by taking a "volta" or stroll down Aereopagitou Street, Europe's longest pedestrian road. It laces together neoclassical mansions, street performers, nut vendors, easygoing outdoor cafes and the New Acropolis museum as well as most of the ancient sites.
The Acropolis metro station will take you directly to its crossroads with Makrigianni Street.
