The hotels in Omonia are ideal for well seasoned travelers who are looking for a base that's well connected with public transportation and offers good value. The downtown location is animated with life during the day, but can be unnerving after dark. It's not as ideal as the sweeter, safer areas of Plaka or Monastiraki and slightly less central than Syntagma. Hotels on our top ten list that fall closer to other neighborhoods include the Monastiraki mansion, the Magna Grecia, and the simple Arethusa hotel slightly farther on the same street: Mitropolios. The Magna Grecia, an eclectic boutique hotel, is ranked as one of our top romantic places to stay while the Arethusa is good for travelers in search of basic amenities, nothing more. Both are very near Monastiraki and Syntagma Square as well as Omonia.

Kolokotroni Street is seeing a positive boost in new businesses making the Carolina hotel an interesting choice for travelers.
