The streets between the station and the city park, called Stadspark, is also the Jewish part of the city and the area where many live and work. The people add a unique atmosphere to the city. Estimates put the number of Jewish citizens in Antwerp from 15000 to 20000. However, before the Second World War, the Jewish population was much larger, at 55000 inhabitants.
